Hailed as the High Street of the future by the British Retail Consortium, Bury The Rock is set to refresh and revitalise the town of Bury. Situated just a stones throw away from the Newtons of Bury furniture showroom the multi-million pound retail and leisure scheme will undoubtedly draw shoppers in from further a field than the usual town crowd and with a catchment of two million people within a 30 minute drive of the complex it not hard to see why large retailers such as H&M, Next and River Island have already chosen to take flagship stores within the development. Other big names include Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and Primark.

The development will undoubtedly provide a solid foundation for the regeneration of the town and with unemployment already below the national average (2.8% compared with the GB average of 5.3%) it is hoped that the jobs brought to the area by the development with further help to lower this figure, further boosting the local economy.

The development will also boast a ten screen cinema, bowling alley, family entertainment centre, 400 appartments, restaurants, a town square and other public spaces, and a multi-storey car park for 1,250 vehicles providing the perfect balance of life, leisure, retail and entertainment.

Alongside the new development there will also be a £700,000 pedestrian area improvement scheme funded by Thornfield Properties, developers of The Rock triangle site. The work, which is essential in providing good quality links between the existing town centre which includes the Newtons of Bury furniture showroom and the new shops and leisure venues within The Rock development.

As a local business we are proud to be situated at the heart of this regeneration and look forward to the positive influence that it will bring in the area. We are anticipating that Summer 2010 will be a good one for Newtons of Bury.
